Illuminate the shady parts of the garden with the shimmering silver leaves of Brunnera 'Jack of Diamonds'. This easy-to-grow hardy perennial is notable and a great choice for a number of reasons, besides the fact it thrives in shade where many other plants might struggle. Firstly, the foliage of Brunnera 'Jack of Diamonds' is beautifully pattered and is impressive in size, each leaf can measure up to 25cm in length. Another great thing is the extremely long season of interest—the silver mottling on each leaf will sparkle in sun, shade or the flickering light of dappled shade from spring through to late summer. The icing on the cake is the profusion of dainty blue flowers which appear in spring. 

If you’re looking for a low-maintenance plant, Brunnera 'Jack of Diamonds' virtually takes care of itself once it’s settled in. It’s fully winter hardy and won’t require winter protection, each spring it will grow back from a slightly larger clump which can eventually produce a plant with a span of nearly 1m. Once established, this plant makes a beautiful ground cover through the season and also combines well with other plants, particularly pale pink tulips in spring.
