Filipendula 'Kahome'
Filipendula 'Kahome' is exciting and new! This recently introduced form of meadowsweet is dwarf, at just 35cm high, and a little more across, and has some of the brightest pink flowers you will ever see in a garden. Its frothy plumes of flowers, rather like astilbes, are of a gorgeous sugar-pink, and appear between June and August. They are held above a low mound of bright green fern-like leaves. Bees and butterflies will flock to the blooms, that is, if you haven’t cut the stems for vase decoration—they last well in water.
As a clump-forming perennial, Filipendula 'Kahome' grows well in moist areas of the garden, and will thrive at the edges of ponds or streams. However, they are also perfectly happy in normal garden borders, and even adapt well to patio containers and pots – provided they are not allowed to dry out. Perfectly hardy in the UK, Filipendula 'Kahome'will grow well in full sun or partial shade, and in any kind of soil. Watering in summer is important to keep the plant producing flowers.
After a couple of years, your Filipendula 'Kahome' plant will have grown into a sizeable clump, and may be easily divided, in early spring, to give you even more plants.
