Geum 'Tales of Hex'
The stunning Geum 'Tales of Hex' (commonly known as avens) is rarely seen for sale. In spring, it produces beautiful large, double, frilly flowers of soft lemon-yellow, with greenish centres. These stand up well on green stems, and show off extraordinarily well against the pretty green foliage. The flowers, which can be 3cm across, are beloved of bees and other insect pollinators!
As with all Geums, 'Tales of Hex' forms a nice, mounded habit, and it is very easy to grow. After flowering, the leaves remain fresh and green (this is a semi-evergreen perennial), and they retain their attractive shape. Geums have become āmust-haveā plants in recent years, popularised by many, including Dutch plantsman, landscape designer, and master of the prairie style of gardening, Piet Oudolf. He has singled Geum rivale 'Tales of Hex' as one of the best.
Geum 'Tales of Hex'Ā is considered such a good plant, the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) have awarded it a coveted Award of Garden Merit.
