Gladiolus 'Essential'

Gladiolus 'Essential'

Bold and statuesque yet oozing elegance, Gladiolus 'Essential' offers tall spikes of large, pure white flowers from June until August. Perfect for adding strong, vertical accents, whether in an all-white border, or for lifting and brightening more colourful planting. Gladiolus 'Essential' flowers last well when cut, and with its clear, pure beauty this one is particularly well suited to use as a bridal bouquet.Ā Ā

Give your gladioli a sunny, open spot and well-draining soil. If you garden on heavy clay, either mix in plenty of horticultural grit or grow yours in a container instead. Wherever you plant them, make sure the corms are about 15cm deep and the same distance apart. Taller varieties such as Gladiolus 'Essential' may benefit from additional support, particularly if you’re growing them in a windy spot. A network of twigs inserted around them works well, as does metal link stakes. Do this as early as possible for the most natural-looking results (i.e., as prevention rather than cure!).Ā Ā
