Gladiolus 'Pink Lightning'

Gladiolus 'Pink Lightning'

Living up to its name, Gladiolus 'Pink Lightning' produces strong, vertical spikes of pale, sugar-pink flowers, perfect for punctuating the bushy froth of other summer-flowering plants. We particularly love combining it with the pure white Gladiolus 'Essential', and the white and pink Gladiolus 'My Love'. These three erupting from a sea of pink and purple blooms is romantic, cottage garden heaven!

For getting the most out of your Gladiolus 'Pink Lightning', remember a few simple tips. Firstly, stagger the planting of your corms (a few every two weeks throughout April and May) to extend the flowering period. Secondly, give a dose of tomato feed as soon as the shoots appear and continue every fortnight until the flowers go over. If you live somewhere damp and chilly during winter, lift and dry store your Gladiolus 'Pink Lightning' corms in a shed, greenhouse, or similar. If you’re in a milder, more southern region or have free-draining soil, you can leave them in the ground with a layer of mulch.
