Heliopsis 'Orange Marble'
Get set for a red-hot summer (whatever the weather!) with this scorcher in your borders or pots, Heliopsis 'Orange Marble' is here to set your planting scheme ablaze with molten tones of orange and red.  Whether anything goes in your garden, or you have a planting scheme which is either fiery or contrasting cool blue and purple, you’ll find that these add an element of shock which is essential. It’s not just those bee-friendly flowers which look like the setting sun that make this plant so wonderful, it’s the fantastic marbled leaves which combine shades of green, cream, yellow and a touch of pink too. It’s fair to say that Heliopsis 'Orange Marble' is technicolour and terrific from top to toe.
The leaves of Heliopsis 'Orange Marble' bring texture and colour to the garden as soon as they emerge in spring and they last right through to autumn, the flowers come to top it all off for a good long season too, typically lasting between July and September. This hardy perennial is also known as the false sunflower and it’ll eventually reach a height of around 45cm tall. Over time, it forms a clump as it matures, and as the clump grows it produces more flower stems. Heliopsis helianthoides 'Orange Marble' prefers a sunny or partially shaded site in a moist, free-draining soil or compost. It’s happy in a border and looks right at home in a priari planting scheme. The fiery blooms are also perfect for cutting and bringing inside to enjoy – they look amazing in boho bouquets or add colour to a more gentle bunch with ornamental grasses and other foliage. Â
