Muscari 'Plumosum'
Unlike any Muscari you may have ever grown before, this wacky version Muscari comosum 'Plumosum' (also known as feather grape hyacinth) blooms with plumes of purple feathery flowers, creating a fantastic cloud-like effect in mixed borders or containers. They’re much bigger than ordinary Muscari too, growing to robust height of up to 30cm. These sturdy, upright stems burst into big clusters of downy flowers from late spring onwards, maintaining a fresh look while earlier spring varieties fade and before the summer blooms take the reins.
Despite their eccentric, frilly looks, Muscari comosum 'Plumosum' are just as easy to grow as any other Muscari and will also naturalise just as readily. Plant these plucky customers en-masse in patio pots or borders in sunny spot and they will reward you with their cool, fluffy haze of mauve every year!
