Phlox 'Cool Water'

Phlox 'Cool Water'

Chill out in summer among Phlox 'Cool Water's sweet array of fragrant pink and white blooms. Plant this dreamy phlox in groups or drifts in borders and look forward to a gentle and relaxing display which will return every year, establishing over time to eventually form a dense clump. Each year this hardy perennial will produce more flowering stems, each one topped with generous flower clusters between July and September. Take a good look at those blooms of Phlox 'Cool Water' and notice their watercolour effect, with dense areas of colour which seems to bleed from one flower into those around it but in a more diluted shade, like the entire cluster is blotted with pink paint.

A display of these is as calming as drifting along a gentle stream! Combine Phlox 'Cool Water' with pastel shades or waves of deep purple, vibrant pink and sparkling white plants to help it make even more of a splash. For best results, start your phlox plant in a temporary pot and grow it on outdoors for a few months before planting it out into a border. This helps it to establish a stronger root system in easy conditions before heading into garden soil, which can be more challenging. Phlox paniculata 'Cool Water' prefers a sunny or partially shaded site in a moist, but free-draining soil. Growing to around 1m tall, it’s sure to make a fabulous focal point. Ā
