Low-maintenance plants are the best kind, and Saxifraga granulata 'Flore Pleno' has long been a gardeners’ favourite for this very reason, providing gorgeous, low-level ground cover in a partially shaded spot with the very minimum of fuss. This humble plant has subtle looks and an unobtrusive nature, simply getting on with it throughout the year in its own delightful way. Just like the well-known ‘Flore Pleno’ snowdrop, this unusual saxifraga has elegant snowy-white double blooms which bear quite a striking resemblance – only this snowdrop doppelgänger has a summer flower instead! The evergreen rosette-like foliage is a feature in itself and serves as a fantastic year-round ground cover, ideally situated close to the front of the border or edging a shady bed.

Plant Saxifraga granulata 'Flore Pleno' in close groups and it will gradually spread out to fill its designated space. It also makes a very nice container plant, particularly so when planted in a wide, shallow stone pot. If you have a cool, shady rockery, this fabulous plant is an absolute essential!
