Tulip 'Apricona'

Tulip 'Apricona'

Not only is Tulip 'Apricona' one of the earlier tulip cultivars to flower, but it is also one of the few that can claim to be reliably long-lasting. While many tulips tend to wane after their first season, the large, soft apricot flowers of Tulip 'Apricona' return with great gusto year after year.Ā Ā

The natural habitats of Tulip 'Apricona' tend to be hot, dry places, and as such they do best in a sunny, well-draining spot. If you have heavy soil, perhaps consider growing your tulips in a container filled with a gritty potting mix. We recommend using the Dutch bulb lasagne technique for a truly showstopping display. This involves planting bulbs in layers; the lowest can be as deep as 30cm, and the uppermost should be at twice the depth of the bulb. Space the bulbs a couple of centimetres apart and cover each layer with 5cm of compost. A riot of spring colour awaits!Ā
